KIND’s Atlanta field office is seeking volunteer bilingual Spanish/English interpreters and translators to assist pro bono attorneys in providing legal representation to unaccompanied children.
Time and Place:
Volunteers state their own availability and agree to volunteer assignments on a case-by-case basis. Interpretation can take place in person or telephonically depending on the availability of the interpreter. In-person interpretation generally takes place at courts and the offices of pro bono attorneys throughout Atlanta. Non-local volunteers may provide telephonic interpretation and translation services.
Special Skills Needed:
Fluency in Spanish and English is required. While Atlanta-based professional interpreters are preferred, volunteers do not need to be professionally trained or reside in Georgia. Experience with children or victims of trauma is preferred, though not required. Volunteers must pass a criminal background check and sign a confidentiality agreement.
